Our New Office & Store…

Twelfth night biscuits
We have been busy moving into this lovely old building in Birtley. It sits alongside a collection of other historic farm buildings that were converted to offices just over 20 years ago.

Some things just don’t work in such a beautiful building, so the carpet tiles and modern office furniture that were left in it by the previous owners were all collected and reused, by members of Guildford Freecycle (fortunately, the carpet tiles all came up easily). They have been replaced by some of Lesley’s period furniture (she has been a keen auction buyer for many years, and now has an excuse to buy even more brown furniture!)

More photographs next month when we have finished moving in.

It’s lovely to be in a building that was in use in the days when Horsham was famous for its gingerbread.

Maybe the people who lived on Birtley farm went to Horsham on market days and treated themselves to some gingerbread while they were there!

A Spotlight on Our Lovely Retailers

This month we would like to present:

Dunnocks Farm Shop

Unit A
Whipley Manor Farm Palmers Cross
Bramley
Surrey
01483 399629
Their wonderful shop is less than 2 miles from our new head office!
They are open Tuesday-Saturday 10 am – 5:30 pm
They have a well-stocked deli counter and a super range of loose frozen products.
Their meat comes from a local butcher and game dealer and their bread is made by a craft baker from Sussex.

You can be sure of a warm welcome from Bernice and her team.

Old Recipe Corner

Some simple recipes stand the test of time. Rock cakes are a very good example of this – quick and easy to make, and oh so delicious! As you can see, Lesley only made one big change to the ingredients – she replaced the dripping with butter.

You can always use orange zest in place of lemon zest – both are equally as nice.
