Richard Fuller was a resident of Chichester between 1759 & 1842. In the south alley of Chichester Cathedral’s cloisters there are two wall monuments dedicated to Richard & members of his family.
His cellar book & his daughter-in-law Maria’s book of recipes were the inspiration for our range of oat-based Chichester biscuits called Sussex Alberts.
Within this group we have our Sussex Martlets. A martlet is a mythical bird, like a swallow without feet. It has a strong association with Sussex.
These delicious biscuits can be enjoyed on their own or with cheese – they are particularly good with blue cheese.
SIMPLE INGREDIENTS, COMPLEX FLAVOURS !
Customer note: these biscuits are the same as our Twelfth Nights biscuits. For many years customers have asked us to put our Christmas biscuits in an all the year-round box so they can be enjoyed for 12 months of the year, rather than only 3 months. This is why we commissioned our new Sussex Martlets packaging, but we will still offer Twelfth Nights, as they are a popular Christmas gift.
